We are excited you are joining us!

Everything you need to know:
We are excited that you are joining the show! If you listen to podcasts, you may have heard some with really bad sound quality. This is caused by a variety of reasons, including the recording environment and equipment. To ensure you sound your best during our interview, we’ve prepared some tips and best practices that will ensure the highest recording quality for your voice.

The Lakewood Ranch Podcast uses Riverside.fm to host, facilitate, and record the show.

Before the recording, you will be sent an invite link via email. You can simply follow that link at the time of your interview. No need to make an account or sign up for anything on Riverside.fm.

In preparation for the interview, please read and note:

You need to be on a laptop or desktop computer using the Chrome browser. Riverside.fm does not work on mobile devices like phones or tablets.
Chrome browser is required. Make sure you have the latest updated version of the browser. Riverside.fm will not work with other browsers because they do not allow local recording. You can download the Chrome browser by clicking here: [Insert download link]
Close other programs and browsers running on your computer.
The platform strongly urges you not to use WiFi but to plug directly into your router/switch. If you are on a laptop, you must have your power plugged in. Do not rely on the battery.
Riverside.fm records locally and then sends the file at the end of the recording, so you need to ensure you have storage space on your hard drive. Usually, this is not a problem as the files are not very big, unless your hard drive is completely full.
Please wear wired headphones! Although it is possible to record without them, it might cause problems. Phone earbuds will also work well.
If you have an external microphone, please use that instead of the computer’s microphone feature. Earbuds with a built-in microphone work as well, but if you use this combo, please be careful that the cord and microphone do not brush against your shirt.
Find a quiet place to record, turn off any devices creating noise in the background, close the window if it’s noisy outside, and go somewhere where you will not be disturbed. Bedrooms or closets work great because there are many soft objects to absorb the sound.

During your interview:

You may be prompted by your browser to allow permission to “Store Data Persistently” and “Use Your Microphone.” Please allow both.
If you have a webcam, we will be able to see each other and your background. This helps to avoid talking over each other.
Notice that there is a box for each participant on the screen. When you speak, you should see audio levels move.
At the end, the host will stop the recording and Riverside.fm will upload your interview. You must leave the browser open while this is happening. Wait for the pop-up message notification letting you know that this is done and that it is safe to close the browser and shut down your computer.

AFTER RECORDING

Please make sure you wait until your audio uploads before you close the browser window.
